Indonesian retail giant PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (Alfamart) is preparing to expand its convenience store network to Malaysia and Bangladesh, following its successful penetration in the Philippines market.

Trade Minister Budi Santoso announced the expansion plans, highlighting how Indonesian retailers are now exporting not just products but entire business models through the Indonesian Retailers Association (Aprindo).

Currently, Alfamart operates approximately 2,400 outlets across the Philippines, demonstrating the company's capability to establish and maintain large-scale international retail operations outside Indonesia.

The expansion represents a significant milestone for Indonesian retail companies venturing into new Southeast Asian and South Asian markets, showcasing the country's growing commercial influence in the region.

This strategic move positions Alfamart among the pioneering Indonesian retailers successfully exporting their convenience store concept internationally, potentially opening doors for other domestic retail chains to follow similar expansion strategies.
