The recognition is further supported by Indonesian cities on Java—Jakarta (16th globally and best in Southeast Asia), Bandung (34th), Surabaya, Surakarta, and Yogyakarta—being acknowledged among the world's 100 Best Food Cities in the 2025-2026 TasteAtlas rankings.
Java's acclaimed cuisine features iconic dishes including Soto Betawi (hearty coconut milk-based beef soup), Batagor (fried fish dumplings), Siomay (steamed fish dumplings with peanut sauce), Nasi Goreng (fried rice), and various regional specialties that blend Javanese, Sundanese, Cirebonese, and Betawi culinary traditions with influences from Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Middle Eastern cultures.
