Malaysia’s population reached 34.4 million in Q1 2026, according to Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin of the Department of Statistics.
The country recorded slower population growth at 0.5%, with 18 million males and 16.3 million females, or 110 men for every 100 women.
Live births fell to 94,807 in the quarter, reflecting ongoing demographic shifts as Malaysia gradually moves toward an aging society.
