Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim officially launched ILMU (Intelek Luhur Malaysia Untukmu), Malaysia's first homegrown multimodal large language model developed by YTL AI Labs in collaboration with Universiti Malaya at the ASEAN AI Malaysia Summit 2025.
The groundbreaking multimodal AI model can process text, voice, and images while demonstrating fluency in Bahasa Melayu, Manglish, and local dialects like Kelate, achieving the highest score globally on the MalayMMLU benchmark with 86.98% accuracy, surpassing GPT-4o's 84.98%.
YB Gobind Singh Deo, Minister of Digital, praised ILMU as a "groundbreaking Malaysian innovation" that showcases the nation's ability to create world-class AI infrastructure while preserving linguistic and cultural identity, emphasizing its role in empowering Malaysians in the digital era.
YTL AI Labs announced the ILMU AI Accelerator Programme in partnership with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), offering RM5 million in free ILMU API credits, Malaysia Digital Status benefits, and talent facilitation to Malaysian startups, SMEs, and global solution providers.
