Viet Nam welcomed its 20-millionth international tourist on December 15, 2025, at Phu Quoc International Airport—marking the first time in the country's 65-year tourism history that it has reached this milestone in a single year.
The symbolic 20-millionth visitor was Karolina Agnieszka from Poland, who received a luxury gift package valued at nearly VND 500 million (USD 19,000), which included a premium pearl necklace, round-trip business-class air tickets from Sun PhuQuoc Airways, a five-star resort stay, Michelin-star dining vouchers, golf and yacht excursions in southern Phu Quoc, and priority access cards for entertainment services within the Sun Group ecosystem.
Two other Polish travelers, Milena Katarzyna Ciesielska and Karol Krzysztof Ciesielski—the 19,999,999th and 20,000,001st visitors respectively—each received gift packages worth over VND 200 million (USD 7,600), including premium pearls and vouchers for Sun Group products and services.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Ho An Phong stated that since fully reopening tourism after the pandemic on March 15, 2022, Vietnam has seen remarkable growth with 12.6 million international arrivals in 2023, 17.6 million in 2024, and an expected total surpassing 21 million by the end of 2025—far exceeding the pre-pandemic record of 18 million visitors in 2019.
With an estimated 21-percent year-on-year growth rate in 2025, Vietnam's tourism industry is among the world's fastest-growing destinations according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, significantly outpacing global tourism's projected 5% growth and the Asia-Pacific region's expected 8% increase.
