Vietnam Airlines will launch the first-ever nonstop flight between Hanoi and Amsterdam in June 2026, marking a major step in strengthening air connectivity between Viet Nam and the Netherlands.

The new route will use wide-body aircraft, likely Boeing 787 Dreamliners, starting with three to four weekly flights and reducing travel time to about 12 hours compared to current one-stop journeys that can take 16–20 hours.

Airline executives said the service will support trade ties, connect more than 100,000 Vietnamese diaspora members in Europe with their homeland, attract European tourists, and use Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport as a gateway to wider Europe.

The Netherlands is a key economic partner of Viet Nam, with bilateral trade worth billions of dollars annually across sectors such as agriculture, technology, logistics, and manufacturing, making the long-haul route commercially promising.

The launch adds to Vietnam Airlines’ existing European routes to Paris, London, and Frankfurt, as the carrier expands internationally and competes with major Gulf airlines by offering faster and more convenient nonstop travel between Southeast Asia and Europe.
