Bali has been crowned the world's best tourist destination in TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Awards Best of the Best Destination List 2026, marking the highest position the Indonesian island has ever achieved in TripAdvisor's rating history despite consistently appearing in the Top 10 for years.
According to Indonesian Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, this recognition demonstrates that Bali remains a magnet for global tourism, with the award compiled from reviews and ratings by international tourists throughout 2025 that saw Bali surpass iconic destinations including London, Dubai, Hanoi, Paris, and Rome.
TripAdvisor described Bali as a living postcard where travelers can experience white sand beaches, dive to explore coral reefs and World War II shipwrecks, visit lush forests protecting stone temples and wildlife, and use Ubud as a base to witness cultural dance performances, participate in batik or silver craft workshops, or refresh body and mind through yoga classes.
Beyond the top world destination honor, Bali received multiple prestigious rankings including first place for Best Honeymoon Destination, spots in the Top 10 Best Cultural Destinations and Top 10 Best Solo Travel Destinations, plus placement in the Top 20 Trending Cities, demonstrating the island's versatility across different traveler categories.
Minister Widiyanti emphasized that these achievements are expected to improve service quality and strengthen sustainable tourism principles across Indonesia while attracting quality tourists, with Bali's success attributed to its unique harmony between natural beauty and local culture, art, traditions, and religious ceremonies preserved by the community that offers depth and authenticity to every visitor's experience.
