Bali has made history in 2026 by claiming the No.1 position in TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards, marking the first time the “Island of the Gods” has outperformed global tourism heavyweights such as London, Dubai, and Paris to be named the world’s best destination.

According to TripAdvisor, the ranking is based on millions of verified traveler reviews and ratings collected over a 12-month period, with visitors consistently highlighting Bali’s rare balance between spiritual serenity and contemporary hospitality as the island’s defining strength.

Beyond securing the overall global title, Bali also topped the honeymoon category and received outstanding recognition for solo travel and cultural immersion, reinforcing its reputation as a destination that caters to diverse travel experiences within a single journey.

The milestone follows a record-breaking tourism year in 2025, when Bali welcomed more than 7.05 million international visitors—surpassing even its pre-pandemic peak—driven largely by strong arrivals from Australia, India, and China, alongside its growing appeal among digital nomads.

Travelers frequently pointed to the island’s remarkable versatility as a key reason for its rise, noting that world-class surfing in Batu Bolong, luxury clifftop resorts in Nusa Dua, and spiritual retreats amid the forests of Ubud can all be experienced in one seamless trip, strengthening Bali’s global tourism dominance.
