PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM), the Japanese automaker's 50:50 joint venture with PT Astra International, officially announced at GIIAS 2025 that it will begin local production of the bZ4X electric vehicle in Indonesia by the end of 2025.

The facelifted bZ4X model was unveiled at the 32nd Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) on July 23, 2025, marking Toyota's first battery electric vehicle to be manufactured locally in Indonesia rather than imported from Japan.

The locally-produced Indonesian bZ4X will be offered exclusively in a front-wheel drive configuration, with sales scheduled to commence by the end of 2025 as part of Toyota's strategic commitment to the Indonesian electric vehicle market.

TAM showcased up to 30 vehicles at GIIAS 2025 held at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, from July 24 to August 3, 2025, emphasizing Toyota's broader electrification strategy and long-term investment in Indonesia's automotive industry.

This localization move is expected to make the bZ4X more affordable for Indonesian consumers compared to the current imported version, as Toyota positions itself more competitively in the rapidly growing Southeast Asian electric vehicle segment.
