Cambodia's new Techo International Airport, located about 30km south of Phnom Penh, is set to open in July 2025, aiming to boost tourism and accommodate growing international travel demands.
The US$1.5 billion project, a collaboration between the Cambodian government and the Overseas Cambodian Investment Corp, is being built by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co Ltd and designed by British architects Foster + Partners to blend modern infrastructure with Cambodia’s tropical climate.
Initially designed to handle up to 13 million passengers annually, its capacity is expected to expand to 30 million by 2030 and 50 million by 2050, making it a major hub for the region.
This marks Cambodia’s second major airport opening in two years, following the 2023 launch of the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, as the country recorded 6.7 million international tourist arrivals in 2024, a 23% increase from the previous year.
